Overview
API tubing is an oil-country tubular goods product used in well completion and production strings. It should be ordered as tubing under API Specification 5CT, not as structural pipe, line pipe, or casing. The RFQ should identify the API 5CT edition, grade, outside diameter and nominal weight or wall, length range, end finish, upset type, and connection. API EUE and NUE are tubing connection references; proprietary connections require the connection owner's exact designation and acceptance criteria. Buyers should also state drift requirements, hydrostatic or non-destructive inspection scope, marking, thread protection, quantity, and destination. Grade, size, connection, and inspection availability remain subject to technical review against the complete order. Service conditions such as sour service require additional project specifications and material qualification.
Product scope
- Tubing is separated from casing, line pipe, and structural pipe.
- EUE and NUE are treated as tubing connection references; casing-only connection labels are excluded.
- Size, weight, length range, drift, marking, and inspection remain order-defined.
